How we built a partnership with Comfort Cases

Waylon’s homecoming story is not unlike the stories of other rescue animals.

Waylon’s homecoming story is not unlike the stories of children who enter the foster care system.

He was comfortable with his first family… they couldn’t take care of him anymore… he ended up moving from shelter to shelter before finding his forever home.

Kids learn lessons from books and I knew Waylon’s cute little character could make a difference.

It took a lot of googling, unanswered emails, and asking around to find a cause that resonated with the Waylon’s World mission. When a friend suggested Comfort Cases, I knew it’d be a great match.

First and foremost, our values aligned. We share the common goal of giving back to inspire dignity and hope to youth in foster care through comfort, community, character, and compassion.

Second, the Founder and CEO answers emails that come in through the website. Rob’s level of involvement in the day to day operations of the organization is inspiring. This direct communication allows for our partnership to evolve and grow quickly.

Lastly, the team is openminded and available. We chat about things like donations or how to use social media effectively. Everyone brings endless value to each conversation.

I’m learning a lot from this partnership…

  • Did you know that rescue animals are often used to illustrate the realities of foster care to young children entering the system?

  • Did you know that they are not “foster children”? They are “children experiencing foster care” or “children entering the foster care system”. Language matters and the word “foster” does not define the child.

  • Did you know that children entering the foster care system are given a trash bag for their belongings?

Working closely with an organization like Comfort Cases provides us with insights into the issues within a specific community while developing a new perspective and approach to how we can give back.
